Will Hilllary Cross the Line?

Sun Jun 01, 2008 at 09:01:58 AM PDT

Things are unfolding quickly now, and we are drawing up to point where we will know what the next couple of months before the convention are going to be like. I am currently abroad, and more out of touch than normal, but it looks like there has been a resolution to the MI and FL problems. The simple fact that there was a committee deciding this, that it was done publicly, and that it gave a 'voice' to those 'disenfranchised' peoples means that some of the tension in the tug of war between Clinton & Co. and the rest of the party will ease.

Clinton is a coward

Fri May 23, 2008 at 06:26:52 PM PDT

Well, I see a whole bunch of diaries about the race card and the continuing push on what is wrong with Obama's ability to win over the 'blue collar white everyday working class' class of people. Her references that she is fighting for FL and MI because they are somehow the equal of the civil rights movement, Zimbabwe's attempt to overthrow a dictator, or fighting slavery are equally ridiculous.

And yet, she has supported Obama at times (notably Bush's comments in Israel), and 'made clear' that her and her husband are going to come out full bore for Obama. Lately she has turned on her vitriolic side more often than not, and I just wanted to take a look at how her insecurity and stubbornness combined with her desire to achieve send her wavering back and forth.

Knowing the end is near

Tue May 20, 2008 at 03:38:11 PM PDT

Movies, books, and stories abound of heroic figures who have sacrificed themselves for something greater. We hear of people whose lives have transcended the narrow paths that most of us walk, they have become something greater because of their passion and dedication for what they believe in.

I do not know Ted Kennedy at all, I only know OF him quite a little bit (much more about JFK and Bobby) but it has become apparent to me watching my favored candidate Obama assemble the voice of this nation behind him that Ted Kennedy is a genuine American hero. There is great sadness over the airwaves and online at his being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, I won't speculate about what that means for his future or what sorts of new hurdles he will now be facing because of it. Instead, I am writing to say that as bad as this news is... it will strengthen Ted, and strengthen his proffered candidate Obama.

The cost of trying to be energy 'independent'

Mon May 05, 2008 at 08:19:31 PM PDT

I want to first thank gmoke  for an amazing diary, it inspired me to finally write my first.I also want to agree with him that energy independence at an individual level is achievable and preferable in places like the Midwest where wind or solar are readily available, relatively cost effective, and where extending grids to individual households over the vast distances is just using up valuable resources. However, as he and other posters note, human demographics simply do NOT operate in that way.  Energy independence is a misleading farce, and read my diary to see more about why.
